This was announced by the International Chess Federation (FIDE) on its X social media page. It was noted that initially, Carlsen was fined $200 for showing up in trousers. The reigning World Champion in Rapid and Blitz refused to change his outfit, and as a result, he was disqualified from the tournament. Previously, Russian chess player Ian Nepomniachtchi was fined $200 for arriving in sneakers, but after changing his shoes, he continued his participation in the championship.
